The Queen of Possibilities

It's true!  In May 2008, when St. Louis Magazine did a huge profile on me (who KNEW there was that much to write about me!?) they also called me "the Queen of Possibilities."  WOW!  I love that title, and among the many titles I wear, I treasure this title.

"Dreaming uncovers possibilities... Possibilities create ideas... Ideas offer hope... Hope inspires action."   

So, what do I do?  Gee, not so easy to share, but I'll try.  While you are reading this, please keep thinking about yourself, what you are looking for.  I'm going to share information on myself to help you see if I'm someone that could help you.  Here's my story. 

I love to help people dream... to help people see possibilities and then "connect" them to the resources to make their dreams happen.  What is YOUR dream?

This is really all around building your DREAM business.  A business that you wake up "tickled and inspired" each day to work in.  (Thanks Liz Krieghauser for your tickled and inspired phrase, I just love saying that!).  That every day you get to do your passion you just feel so alive, so on purpose.  

As a survivor of stage 3 ovarian cancer (1997), I truly am excited each day to be here.  And what a joy it is to help others dream, connect to their own possibilities and then help them take action.  I love seeing the facial changes, the body language change as people explore and play with the possibilities to change their business, change their life.  Then their life changes to reflect their dreams and my heart soars.

Business Dream Champion:  Yes.  I champion business dreams.  In 2007 the Small Business Administration gave me "The Home Based Business Champion Award" for helping small busineses and in the early 90's the St. Louis Regional Commerce Associal (RCGA) gave me the Pacesetter Award.  I was the first woman to receive it and I was so honored that the business community SEES the passion I have for helping entrepreneurs.

A slight detour here..  One day, in 2004 I think it was, I screamed at God.  The first time I'd ever done that.  I asked him WHY he made me this way... with an idea a minute... why couldn't I just be "normal" and get a job.  I was beyond frustrated.  That night a woman came to my home and that I was meeting for the very first time.  In her hands was the book "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson.  She shared that while she had not read the book, she just felt like she was supposed to share it with me.  Yep.  God wanted me to have that book.  To reassure me that I was doing His work.  You see, I learned in the Dream Giver that EVERYONE has a dream, but many of us will never go for our dream.  But God made "dream champions" to help them go for their dreams.

I am a business dream champion. 

The entrepreneur starts their business or WANTS to start their business because they have a dream.  I want to help the business owner pull the pieces together for their dream so that they make more money and have more fun focused on their God given strengths and gifts.  I'm a huge fan of all things "Gallup" as in the Gallup Organization, particularly their books... Now Discover Your Strengths; Stengthsfinder; How Full is Your Bucket and more.  What I so whole heartedly believe, Gallup quantifies and measures.  That strength based living, strength based working creates more profitable companies, with less turnover and higher client satisfaction.  YES!  You were made the way you were made on purpose!

As someone who struggled to try to develop all my skills, I just sucked at some things.  Staying organized (I LOVE order-but cannot maintain it!) and keeping track of finances.  Don't get me wrong, I love numbers, but not DOING numbers or TRACKING numbers, and that made me, a woman who is passionate about business, feel like a failure, like something was wrong with me.

Then I found out what my natural God given strengths are, and you know what?  That's what I want to do more of... the things that I am so good at.  That bring me joy AND my clients and that brings my business associates joy in working with me.

A Promoter: So, a joy, another natural gift I have is to promote others.  To help them activate their dreams.  To look at strategic ways to leverage their business, their God given gifts, their time.  To help them maximize their resources.  I started one business to do just that... City of Experts to promote expert speakers, authors and consultants.  But it doesn't matter what you want to do or be, I love to promote people and their dreams.  I've heard on several occassions people say... be careful what you tell Karen you want, because she will help you get it.  Guilty (?) as charged!  I DO want to see my clients and friends get everything they want, and for my clients and friends to live with joy and positivity. 

Chief "Igniter:" IGNITING possibilities and then activating them is where the money and joy are for my clients. 

Collaboration partner: After 20 years in the barter industry, and as a magazine publisher I learned plenty about collaboration.  As one of my dear friend's, Lethia Owens says,  "Collaboration is the fastest path to success and isolation is the fastest path to insanity."

I believe that God put me here to CONNECT people.  To help them see opportunities to collaborate.  And this next piece may sound just a bit crazy, but it is so true for me... how to love each other more. 

Business does not and should not be "dog eat dog" but I believe business is more around the concept of "It takes a village to raise a business."

Helping others in business truly comes back to you.  I believe in what I call "karma credits."  We help this person in business, and they may never help us, but someone else does. 

Connector.  Connector.  Connector.

So in order to collaborate you need connections.  In order to get promoted you need connections.  In order to find the best way to build your business, leverage your time, you need connections.

My specialty is what I call "authentic and strategic" connections.  To people.  To resources.  To information.  To new ways of thinking.  I'm a connector.
